Who we are

We are MakerMind Tutoring. We have years of experience in robotics, both in competitions and more broadly. MakerMind exists to share the passion and expertise we have built with the next generation of roboticists with hands-on experience building and testing robots.

Tutor Eric

Robotics · electronics · competition strategy

My interest in robotics started around 18 years old when I realised that you can make whatever you want if you learn the right things. This passion evolved into a journey of meeting new people and driving them to be the change they want to see, help them build their craziest ideas, and maybe win a competition or two along the way.

Tutor Jimmy

Robotic engineering · President, UC ROBO

My interest in robotics started at 13, building drones with my dad. This interest grew into attending and winning competitions like RoboCup. I now study robotic engineering at the University of Canberra. Since beginning university, I have built connections across the Canberra robotics community and am now the President of UC’s robotics club, UC ROBO.

What services we offer

Sessions are built around whatever you are actually trying to make work — a competition robot, a piece of coursework, or an idea that has not been started yet.

Practical robotics tutoring

  • Hands-on robotics tutoring from an expansive hardware catalogue — see below
  • Professional skills such as creating proper documentation and Bills‑of‑Materials
  • Understanding the mathematical foundations of robotics
  • Advice and knowledge on the robotics competition scene in Canberra and Australia

Software

  • Coding in C++, Python and Java
  • 3D modelling in CAD — SOLIDWORKS, the industry standard
  • Printed circuit board design
  • Robotics simulation software

An expansive hardware catalogue

For clients looking for parts to tinker with physically, we bring an expansive hardware catalogue to every session — real components to prototype with, not pictures of them.

The hardware catalogue

An expansive catalogue of electronic parts and equipment, including:

  • Microcontrollers such as Arduino and ESP‑32, and a large array of sensors
  • Electronics components — bench power supplies, multimeters, a wide range of motors, LiPo battery packs
  • Access to 3D printers
  • Single board computers (SBCs) such as Raspberry Pi
  • GPU-equipped computers running robotics software environments like AdvantageScope
